Gypsy is a wonderful mama. Her babies are thriving – tiny but mighty. They are starting to walk around on their legs more and I love starting to hear them growl at each other and play. This week we will try some mushy food and introduce the potty box – they are ready. 🙂
I have always said I will be honest – so in that vein – we had an unexpected tragedy happen this week – little boy “Rome” started to be lethargic. He started to have what we call “tummy breathing” which is often associated with pneumonia, which they can get if they aspirate milk while they drink.
I took him to my vet for some antibiotics. All the symptoms pointed to that. When Dr Thoreson listened he heard an echo in his heart, not a crackle in his lungs. An x-ray confirmed that his heart was enlarged and full of fluid. Unfortunately there was no cure or help for this long term. The best thing to do was humanely euthanize him – which we did. I cried for days. I was heartbroken.
I am so thankful for the 4 beautiful tiny babies we have to love and treasure.
So to that end, enjoy the photos of our cute little apples from this week.
