Vixen and Bob’s beagle pups turn 1 week old

One week has flown by and Vixen’s pups have grown so quickly under her tender loving care. They are big butter balls and content and happy just like newborns should be. I couldn’t be happier.

I haven’t named them yet but I think I will do a Thankgiving theme since that’s when they came .

At this stage no puppies are available. I have a current waitlist for my puppies. You can apply for a future puppy through my “puppy page”. Thank you

Rosie & Nick’s beagle pups are 7 weeks old

I can hardly believe that it’s been 7 weeks since Rosie had her babies. But I guess when I look at them and watch them play, it makes a lot of sense. They now use the potty boxes pretty consistently and play like little t-rexs – it is so fun to hear their little growls and roars 🙂

I took them to my studio to take photos of them on my blue chair today – they are all SO cute <3

Vixen and Bob’s beagle pups arrive

I wanted to have one retirement litter from Vixen (aka Vickle Pickle – aka Pickle-pops, aka Dobby). She is Nick’s mom, but more than that, she has an incredible structure and a temperament that is worth passing on to generations to come.

I chose a stud that passed away a few years ago so we needed to do a frozen semen breeding with her. His name is Bob – CH The Whim’s Legato. It is a wonderful old pedigree that I am excited to bring back into my lines.

We were a little disappointed to see only 2 on the ultrasound. Better 2 than none, but we were really hoping for a full litter.

I knew I wanted to give her a C-section – in her first litter she had a couple of pups get stuck and I didn’t want to put her through the trauma of that again. Nov 23rd was the first date for a reverse progesterone and ultrasound to see if they babies are ready to be born.

Nov 23rd came around and we went to see Dr Thoreson at Klahaya Animal Hospital. Everything showed she was ready, so she went back for her c-section. I was grateful to be able to rub down puppies and see them as they arrived.

Surgery went smoothly – Vixen ended up giving us 2 bonus babies – 3 boys and 1 girl for a litter of 4. She was hiding them really well – she did not look big at all.

I am so thankful to Dr Anders Thoreson and his team for their excellent care of my momma and pups.

Here are some close ups of each baby:

Girl (10.7oz)

Boy 1 (10.1oz) – wide collar

Boy 2 (10.09oz) thin collar

Boy 3 (10.4oz) dot

Mama and babies are all doing excellent – Before Vix was even awake she was trying to lick them and care for them. Once fully awake she started cleaning them. She remembered immediately what she was meant to do. I couldn’t be more proud of my sweet girl.

I apologize that no pet pups are available at this time as we are going to take our time assessing this litter very carefully and may end up growing several up. Thank you for your understanding.

I am especially sorry for families waiting for girls as this is another boy heavy litter – I can give you referrals to other breeders at this time as it will be a while (6+ months) before a girl is available from us. We will likely keep this girl since she is Vixen’s last daughter.

Rosie’s beagle pups turn 6 weeks old

It is fall here in the PNW and it has been a cold and wet one. This has meant that the babies have not really had much of an opportunity to get outside.

However, we got a break in the rain and the temperature was over 50 so i took them out to the garden. They walked out into the garden like they had been out there 100 times – i can’t believe their confidence!

Their little personalities are starting to emerge. The little girl is just that – little. She is tiny but with a huge personality. None of her big brothers can push her around.

I am just in love with them all. And so grateful for the opportunity to love them and enjoy them.

Please remember that no pet pups are available at this time as we are going to take our time assessing this litter very carefully and may end up growing several up. Thank you for your understanding.

Nick is #1 in the USA

“Make my wish come true, All I want for Christmas is you” ~ Mariah Carey.

Nick has exceeded my every wish this year and more.

The statistics came out today and Nick is currently the #1 15 inch beagle in both All Breed and Breed points!! WOW!!

Nick is a multiple Best in show winner and a multiple Specialty Winner. He has has won 20 groups and 64 group placements since mid February. Before that he was a class dog – we hadn’t shown him due to COVID.

His first group placement was his first day as a special ? This little dog never disappoints us. He temperament is happy and confident.

He has passed all of his health tests. As a breeders and owners myself (Sarah Sweetman) and Mike and Karen Kurtzner couldn’t be more proud. ❤

Phoenix gets a great MRI Scan

Anyone who knows me, knows that health testing is important to me and my breeding program.

MaryBeth from Embee cavaliers in Ontario Canada hosts MRI scanning clinics at TVVS several times a year. My friend Alisha from Lockestar cavaliers was taking a few of her dogs and so I was lucky enough to send Phoenix as well.

She was 2 years 8 months at the time of scanning.

Here were results:

Chiari-like malformation present: Mild
Syringomyelia : Grade 0
Syringomyelia location: NA
Atlantooccipital overlap grading: Grade 0
Dorsal compressive AA band grading: Grade 0
Medullary elevation/kinking: Absent
Ventricular dilation: Normal
Cerimunous Otitis: Right sided.

I am thrilled with these results. <3
