Nashville makes his debut at the Beagle National

Nashville (Kazuri N JoyfulNoise Appearing At the Opry) bred by Sarah Sweetman & Dolly Stearns, aged 6 months and a few days, went to the National Beagle Club and competed in the 6-9 month old puppy class for sweeps and the real National. He didn’t end up staying for Beaglefest as he went home with Lisa Young (Denver’s breeder/owner).

It was his first time ever in the ring, and he look it all in stride taking 1st place in his class for both Sweeps, under breeder judge Madeleine Back, and also at NBC under breeder judge Mrs Barbara Scherer, with some lovely comments by both judges.

Thank you to Karen for presenting our litle wild child so well.

Nashville is the son of “Denver” (GCHB Youngsong Sunshine On My Shoulders At Outwest) and “Violet” (CH Kazuri’s Keeping Up Appearances). He is owned by Sarah Sweetman, Lisa Young, Mike and Karen Kurtzner.

And thank you to Jennifer Bell for the ringside photo of Nashville and Karen

Callie and Nick’s beagle puppies have eyes open

We have peepers – it’s always so fun when their eyes open and we know they can start to hear things also.

The noise socialization has begun with playing movies like “Transformer” and “Saving Private Ryan” and “King Kong” for the loud and interesting sounds that play for them.

I love these little puppies. I am so excited to watch them grow up – they have big shoes to fill <3

Sarah and Nick have a weekend to remember in Redmond OR

We went to Redmond Oregon this weekend to play at the shows there.

Nick (MBIS MBISS GCHP Kazuri’s All I Want For Christmas CGCU ATT TKN BCAT) won the OH Hound Group on Friday under judge Mr Allen Odem.

On Saturday, Nick won OH Hound Group 2 under judge Mary Albee, and Regular Group 1 under Mr Raymond Filburn and we went on to Reserve Best In Show under judge Mr Joe C Walton!!!!! Talk about an incredible win!!

On Sunday, Nick won OH Hound Group under judge Mr Raymond V Filburn, and OH Best In Show under judge Mr Joe C Walton. We won Regular Group 1 under Mr Allen Odem and I was delighted that Murphy (who I also bred and own) went Hound Group 2 beside us.

What an incredible weekend – one to remember for always.

Callie and Nick’s puppies continue to thrive

Callie is a wonderful momma – they always say good moms are worth their weight in gold and it is so true. Her puppies are gaining weight well and always satisfied. If I pick them up, they are yawning and content. We are doing ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) morning and night.

Beagle puppies are so cute and of course I hope you enjoy their photos from this morning

Callie’s beagle puppies are thriving

Callie is a wonderful mom just like her mom Rosie and her grandmother Madison. I couldn’t ask for anything more than that.

Her milk is already in – not one puppy lost weight and they have all put on over an ounce in 36 hours.

I love these beautiful little pups – yes they all look very similar – look for subtle differences like spots on noses 🙂

The Spices litter in honor of Caliente (Callie) 🙂

Callie and Nick welcome their beagle babies into the world

I was pretty sure Callie would start labor on the Tuesday or Wednesday this week. She was pretty restless Tuesday and so I slept beside her that night.

Wednesday morning she had more signs of labor – some panting, restlessness so I just sat beside her and kept her company. I took her for regular walks – with a towel on me just in case. Her favorite labor stance was on her back with me rubbing her belly.

Around 1:30 pm she started to bark a little bit and her water sac came out – progress – I was relieved that things would now begin.

It wasn’t too long before she started to push a little – nothing too serious but progress. She would push a few times and then sleep for long stretches. This is not super unusual, especially for a first puppy as they have to open that cervix.

She had her first baby – a 9.45oz girl at 5:30pm. I was excited now – things would start ramping up now 🙂

by 7:30pm, with some pushing but no real progress, I called my vet and asked for an evaluation. I kept thinking that if the puppies took this long each time, then we might have some very distressed puppies by the last one. I was also concerned that her tummy was very round still – the best way I could describe it is that it felt like her uterus was so stretched out that they couldn’t move her puppies down.

We made the decision to head to the vet. They were finishing up another surgery and by the time we got in, and they agreed we should do it, it was 4 hours since her last puppy.

Surgery was fast and i helped rouse puppies. One puppy was very stuck in the birth canal – her uterus tore a little when they took him out, and so I was completely relieved we had made this decision.

We have 3 males and 2 females alive and well. Callie came out of surgery well and has taken to her babies so beautifully. I’ll send another update in the next few days.

Final beagle puppy pictures for Freddy and Jason

8 weeks is here – I can hardly believe it. These two have been fun and I have enjoyed every moment of raising them. They were lucky enough to have my family here from NZ and so got weeks of toddler and preschooler time with my nephews and neice.

They are going off to their new homes this weekend – Freddy is now Grahame Nash and Jason is now Lucky. Both have incredible families to love them and I may even be lucky enough to see them again in the not too distant future.

Enjoy their final pictures here with me

Brinn’s beagle puppies turn 7 weeks old

Brinn’s little “Friday the 13th” boys are thriving and loving their time playing with their bigger friends in the yard. They are both so confident and sweet. They are definitely learning not to bite – but they will get it.

I can’t believe we are almost at the time where they will go to their new homes. I have two incredible families for these beautiful boys – I couldn’t be more happy <3

Enjoy the photos of this week – arent they so cute? Is there anything cuter than a beagle puppy?
