Cleo and Dutch’s beagle puppies have their eyes open

This week went so fast – probably because Ivy had her puppies. Cleo has her puppies well fed and content – they sleep a lot still but are just starting to wander around and play with each other

Enjoy the photos of them with their little peepers open.

Boy 1: Thin white line on his head – now “Frog”

Boy 2: Mostly black without white markings – now “Toad”

Boy 3: Shoulder collar with a notch taken out – “Bass”

Girl 1: White dots on her back “Duckie”

Girl 2: White Stripe on her butt – “Kitty”

Ivy and Beau welcome their beagle puppies into the world

Ivy had her xray on Wednesday and we saw 6 puppies. While she was officially due on Monday/Tuesday, I had a weird feeling she might surprise us a little early. My gut was right and she was restless all night on Saturday night and panted/shivered all day Sunday as she moved through stage 1. We were with her most of the time, and when we gave her space to rest and labor, we had our ring cameras on her.

Around 5pm I felt that she was stretching more than I was comfortable her being alone for. So i joined her in her whelping room. I took her for a walk in the garden and she pushed out her water bag (some people call it the mucous plug). I swear she wanted to give birth outside – so I convinced her to come back inside.

Around 6pm she started hard pushing and by 6:05 the first baby had arrived. A boy – 9.6oz

The next baby came about 15 mins later – our first girl – 9.25oz

Baby number 3 came just after 7 – another boy 10.9oz

Ivy decided to take a little break and rest up. She waited over an hour before she started pushing again and had baby #4 – another boy at 8:25 at 10.05oz

Continuing this new trend, baby #5 was born at 9:21 – another girl 8.6oz

Baby #6 made her appearance at 10:14 – weighing in at 8.6oz- a girl to make it a perfect 50/50 boy girl split. A welcome discovery after many many boy heavy litters.

Miss Ivy settled in and we cleaned all the suction bulbs and bedding, sanitized our hemostats etc.

About 11pm I noticed Ivy wasnt really settling and was doing small pushes. By 11:15 the pushes became more serious and I gloved up. Lo and Behold we had a bonus baby at 11:23pm – another girl – what a miracle.

Ivy is an incredible mama already and loves her baby. I am so so grateful for so many girls to choose from. Well done Ivy and Beau <3

We love these sweet little boy – our Easter treats. They have all got amazing and loving homes to go to, and we couldnt be more thrilled to welcome new Kazuri families and get a repeat family take a second pup from us. <3

Enjoy their photos – i managed to wrangle individial ones as they were a little tired from being outside.
