Vixen and BJ welcome their beagle pups

The last time Vixen had puppies, she had some trouble during labor and delivery. With such precious cargo on board I didnt want to take any risks.

I was so happy I did. Dr Cindy said her uterus showed no signs of going into labor, and yet because we were on day 64, her placentas were all complete and starting to look “old” (whatever that means???) and as you will see her puppies were huge. So, why she didnt start labor on her own, I will never know, but I am thankful to God that we made the call to take them today. It was perfect timing.

Momma and babies are all perfectly well and Vixen has taken to her new babies wonderfully despite being a little groggy and sore after surgery. I am so grateful.

Meet her 5 beautiful BJ babies.

Boy 1 – 11.9oz

Boy 2 – 10.9oz

Boy 3 – 8.4oz

Girl 1 – 8.2oz

Girl 2 – 8.4oz

Thank you for your interest in my breeding program. I wont be making offers to any families till closer to 6-7 weeks when I can assess their structure and temperament, and decide which will be staying in my breeding program.

Please note for any new enquiries, that I have approximately a 12 month wait time for puppies at this time.

Madison x Buddy’s puppies arrive

After much consultation with my reproductive vet, Dr Cynthia Smith (from the Pet Doctor), we decided that if Madison hadn’t given birth by the 27th, we would take them via planned c-section as Vixen was due in the days after and she must have a c-section due to several getting stuck last time. I didnt want Madison to be whelping at the same time Vixen was needed in surgery.

The surgery went without a hitch and though Maddy is a little confused and sore, she loves her babies and is doing really well taking care of them.

So, without further ado, introducing the six newest Kazuri babies.

Boy 1 – 9.6oz

Boy 2 – 12.49oz

Boy 3 – 10.7oz

Boy 4 – 11.5oz

Girl 1 – 9.07oz

Girl 2 – 11.2oz

My sweet Mee-Mers

Mia (CH Foxtail’s Need For Speed TKN RATI) has lived with us since she was about 1. We heard that her breeder was going to place her as a pet and so I snapped her up. I already had her littermate Madison, but having a different type, meant I could double my odds – breeding the two girls to different types of boys and see what happens.

She is sweet and mellow – a lovely member of our home. We call her MooMe, MeeMee, Mee-Mers. She provided me with the beautiful Vixen and for that I will be forever grateful. I tried to breed her a 3 more times and every time she missed. So, as she approached six, i decided to run bloodwork which came back healthy, and try one last time and either way I would retire her. Lo and behold, she fell pregnant – you could have blown me over with a feather.

She has the most amazing family that she will retire with – they are eagerly awaiting her to finish up with her puppies so she can be spayed and live out her days on their couch. We will miss her deeply but it is so nice to know how loved she is going to be.

I did a quick photo shoot with her. Thank you to my 13 year old Brianna for her help in running around the yard with Mia and with camera work as I stacked her. The fun thing about these photos is she is days away from turning 6, and around 5 weeks pregnant – I love how much muscle tone she still has and how gorgeous her movement is still. <3 You can also see her belly starting to grow. <3

Novice Trick Titles

Some of the family’s who have Kazuri dogs have been working on their Novice Trick Title.

What is that you ask? Well let me tell you. AKC has provided a fun way to bond and play with your dog. Usually you would go to an event and a moderator would watch you.

But with COVID-19, AKC has kindly opened up the rules to allow submissions via video. Each trick needs to be done twice on the video. At the Novice level, you can use treats. At the higher levels, only certain tricks can be “baited”, so your dog has to know your signals or instructions. You can read about it and watch videos on how to train your dog here: https://www.akc.org/sports/trick-dog/ They have a list of the tricks at the Novice level. I love that one of them is getting into their kennel 🙂 http://images.akc.org/pdf/trick_dog_novice.pdf If you are unsure what a trick means, you can look it up in the official guidelines here: http://images.akc.org/pdf/trick_eval_guide.pdf

Once your video is ready, submit this paperwork : http://images.akc.org/pdf/trick_dog_novice.pdf along with this form: https://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn-origin-etr.akc.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/20174058/Video-Verification-form.pdf?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20200234_cgc_trick-dog-video-verification to the moderator LYDIA JOINER – lydiajoiner@yahoo.com If she determines that your tricks were good enough, she will sign the paperwork and send it back to you and then you email it to AKC with $25 and your dog has a Trick title or TKN by their name.

Here are some of the wonderful pups, bred here at Kazuri, who have worked on their TKN title since Covid-19 started. I am SO proud of each and every one of them and their owners. <3

Our final week with Kiss and Denny’s pups together

I can hardly believe that this week is here. After all the weeks raising and loving on these precious little ones, it is time for some to start leaving the nest and going to their forever homes since they are almost 10 weeks. This week’s photos are bittersweet for that reason so I will post lots of them – I took them playing in the yard – real puppy life – the fun of life outside the pen 🙂

What an honor it has been to be their first momma and get to love on them these 10 weeks. And now I get to pass the torch on to wonderful families who will love them just as much. I know they will be spoiled rotton. Thankfully for my heart, only two leave this weekend. And, one, Eliza – now called Summer, is staying here at Kazuri, so that does make things a little less painful.

So without further ado, please enjoy photos one last time of Earl Grey (formerly known as Hamilton), Ginger (formerly known as Angelica), Watson (formerly known as Aaron) and Lily (formerly known as Peggy). <3

Ben and Emmy’s pups leave the nest to their new homes

Ben and Emmy’s pups were 10 weeks and ready to go to their new homes. Since they had been raised with my co breeders Mike and Karen in Sacramento California, where Emmy lives with them full time, I had to bring some of the puppies back to Washington so they could settle in their forever homes. I drove all the way south and collected 4 of them to bring back to WA so they could go to their forever homes. It was a very long day, but we made it.

It was rainy and wet so i didnt get to take a photo of all 4 of them, but the rain gave us a little break, so I went out for a little photoshoot with the two that were left while they ran around the yard. Miss Lilikoi and Mr Boy 1, who will be going to a fellow breeder in the USA (announcement will come later once she has made it) are so cute 🙂

We are raising up the other two boys to potentially show them ourselves. Honestly, I was thrilled with this whole litter – sometimes the genetics just clicks. Thankfully this was one of these times.

Thank you for your interest in my puppies and breeding program. These beagle puppies are all sold. I do have a waitlist for my next beagle litters already.

Phoenix gets her Trick Title

My daughter Bri has a special bond with our dogs. When she wants to work with them (she is 13 after all) 🙂 , they hang on every command she gives them.

She and Phoenix, our little Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, worked on Phoenix’s Novice Trick title and easily got it. Now I think she should go for her Intermediate Title – don’t you?

River

Sometimes we place older show dogs with families. We did that with River and through a series of events, found it wasn’t a good match for either him nor the family.

Please know that I do not begrudge the family – my job is to make a lifelong connection between a dog and their family and if that is not happening, then I am a breeder that will take their dog back.

So, I did. River came back and spent 2.5 months with me. In that time, I cherished my time with him. As a breeder, we don’t often get to have time with our adult dogs – to see how they turned out.

He was the “pick” of the litter, and had spent his show career with Mike and Karen in California, so apart from a couple of shows, I had not seen him much. Spending time with him made me appreciate all the things I had liked as a puppy, and know what a quality dog he was – not just physically, but mentally as well.

In one afternoon, we worked on his novice trick title. He got it 🙂 So, he is now CH Kazuri’s River of Dreams TKN. He is so food motivated, that he will do just about anything for a treat 🙂 It’s a bonus for sure.

I took some photos of him while he is here also. While he is neutered, I have 4 straws of semen for him, so I hope to one day bring him back into my bloodline again.

He has a new family looking at him now – and I hope that he has found his forever place to land. He, just like every dog, deserves a home where they are loved and cherished for who they are. <3

Kiss and Denny’s cavalier puppies are 8 weeks

The cavalier puppies are 8 weeks today. I took them to the studio for some more official pictures since they don’t seem to want to sit still very long in the garden – not that I blame them – it’s very interesting exploring out there in the world 🙂

Today they visited the cardiologist Dr Woodfield and got the “all clear” on their hearts. I hope to also be able to get their eyes checked before they go home, but their hearts were the most important thing to me. I am so thrilled the results were as I hoped.

This month marks my final few weeks with these sweet babies. I really have to narrow down my final choices and decide who is staying so families can begin to plan for their precious little one to arrive. I am so thankful for their patience.

The puppies are spending more time outdoors on the deck now. They love having time with the pack and playing with all the big dogs. They also got new fast release collars so they can get used to the feeling of something around their necks. They really are growing up.

Kiss and Denny’s pups are 7 weeks today.

My sweet cavalier puppies are 7 weeks today. They are fun loving little explorers. On the sunny days we take them out into the garden to explore and play. The problem is, they don’t want to sit still anymore for close ups. So, you will just have to enjoy pictures of them enjoying the sun and exploring the garden with the big dogs and playing with mama Kiss (aka Paris).
