Ivy’s pups are 6 weeks old

Where have 6 weeks gone?? Time is flying by much faster than I would like it to for these precious little beagle puppies. They are still very small and so I think I will hold onto them for an extra couple of weeks just to make sure they are strong and healthy for going to their new homes.

They are enjoying more time outside now that the weather is not as cold which we are grateful for. They learn so much when they play outside and their little muscles are developing more. I love how curious and confident they are.

I still haven’t heard from akc who the dad/s are – they say maybe 4-6 weeks – sigh – we have waited that long already. hopefully the results will be in before they start going to their new homes.

Ivy’s pups are 5 weeks old

I will start this with “These pups are overall the smallest I have ever had”. They are healthy, eat well and play like crazy. They are just mini little pocket beagles. 🙂 Just kidding about the pocket beagles – but they are small. The biggest puppy is barely 3lbs and the smallest girl is just over 2lbs.

They are eating 3 solid meals a day and Miss Ivy is a wonderful playmate rather than a nursing momma. She loves her babies so much – but she doesn’t love their sharp teeth.

These pups are now listening to sounds of engines and fireworks. They have a mini staircase and slide to play on and uneven toys so they learn to be stable on their feet. They take each new activity with curiosity and I couldnt be more pleased.

Because it was cold and rainy, we did pictures on the blue chair this week – they look so teeny on it – lol.

DeeJay and Nick’s beagle pups turn 3 weeks

DeeJay’s pups are chubby and thriving. They are not walking yet but we are trying to encourage that with some supports under them. Maybe having their first meal this coming week will help.

In the meantime we love their snuggly little selves – and are enjoying the quiet before the storm of busy arrives

The cavalier puppies are almost ready to go home

The cavalier pups are so delightful – they go with the flow with anything that is thrown at them. This last weekend we ventured down to Salem Oregon to a dog show. They slept in crates overnight with no potty boxes and kept it clean and dry all night long. Boy were they fast to pee and poop when we let them out in the wee hours of the morning 🙂

They were seen by a regular vet, and an ophthalmologist and all is clear and well – yippee. Now onto their heart check ups with Dr Woodfield this week – I am hoping for good news there too before they go to their amazing new homes. All three of these pups will be deeply missed and are going to the most incredible homes.

Enjoy their final photos of them with me together as babies <3

Ivy’s beagle pups are 3 weeks old

Ivy’s pups are strong and healthy. They are starting to wobble around on their little legs and the beginning stages of play is happening – it’s so cute to watch them explore their pen. They have well and truly taken over Ivy’s bed as their own. They know a good thing when they experience it (clearly) 🙂

This week they will experience food for the first time – we will start with goats milk and a little ground beef, with probiotics in it. It’s usually a big hit.

Enjoy their little beagle photos

DeeJay welcomes her babies into the world

Before this breeding took place, I knew DeeJay would be due to give birth during or around our specialty show. I asked a trusted friend if she was available to whelp them and she agreed. I was so grateful and knew they were in good hands.

DeeJay’s xray showed 4 big pups and so due to her tiny size, we decided to do an elective C. It turned out that they just looked big comapred to her small size as they were not that big at all.

She came through surgery just fine and had 3 girls and a boy. Unfortunately, shortly after birth, the boy became purple and struggled to breathe. Despite all the best efforts, we lost him. I have to believe there was something wrong with him that would have made his life difficult. While it is never ever easy to lose them at birth, losing them after weeks or months is even harder.

DeeJay is a wonderful momma, just like her mom and grandmother before her. She takes very good care of her littles <3

Ruby and Piper’s cavalier puppies play in the garden

It was a lovely spring day (yes, I am excited that it is officially spring) and so we took some photos in the green garden.

These little cavalier pups are heading to their first opthlamologist appointment this week to have an eye check – then they will see a cardiologist too. This is standard procedure for all Kazuri cavalier puppies so we have all the information we need before they set off to their forever homes.

These pups have the most amazing families waiting to bring these sweet little pups home.

Ivy’s beagle pups are 1 week old

Ivy is a wonderful mother. The babies are well fed and always sparkly clean. She loves to come out for snuggles and belly rubs and then is quick to go for a potty break and back to her mothering duties.

A good dam is worth her weight in gold and Ivy is worth every ounce. <3

We wont know who the sire of this litter is until DNA comes back in 6-7 weeks – stay tuned 🙂 Is it Nick or Maxim?

I took some pretty pictures of them – I am going to call them the President’s Week Litter since they were born the same week as President’s Day.

The Cavalier puppies have their Blue Chair Shoot

Anyone who follows me knows how much I love the blue chair as it makes every puppy’s color pop – I just love photos taken on it.

Manny is 9 weeks now and Mistletoe and Holly are 8 weeks. It felt like a good time to take their photos.

In the coming weeks, they will have their opthamologist and cardiologist appointments (Standard go home protocol for my ckcs puppies) and start learning how to crate train. I am amazed at how fast these weeks start to go as we enjoy them so much.

The cavalier puppies love playing outside

Manny, Holly and Mistletoe are growing so fast. They are learning new skills like teetering on uneven surfaces, navigating stairs, following when we call, and eating on their own (yes this is a skill they have to learn).

The weather is mild this week so they have been able to play outside without their little jackets on – they are SO happy! They run around and chew on each other’s ears and tails – more than anything, it is delightful to see their happy little bounces as they enjoy the fresh air.

All three are social and happy. Their little personalities are starting to emerge. I cant wait to see the results of their Volhard tests and see how right I am about their baseline.

We have one ruby cavalier girl available to the right home. She is more reserved in nature – friendly, but likes to watch rather than initiate. I think she would do amazing in a home where she is the 2nd dog, to follow, or with a more quiet home that wants a snuggle bug.
