Puddin’ and Spencer are having beagle babies

On behalf of Leigh and Helen Gibson (from Karakush Beagles in Australia), Terri Papagni-Carter and Daniel Carter (from Danter Beagles), Chelsea Metter (from VanMar Beagles) and I, I would like to formally announce the most anticipated announcement of Van-Mar and Kazuri’s latest breeding!

Sired by the one-and-only “Spencer”, sire of the 2015 WKC Best in Show Winner and many other notable champions and producers, BISS CH Ha-Penny’s Too Much Trouble and out of our stunning Australian import, CH Karakush The Proof Is Inth Pudding “Puddin”.

This breeding was of paramount importance for many reasons, but mostly because Spencer has been gone for several years and has very limited breeding opportunities left. We are forever indebted to Terri and Dan for trusting and allowing us to use the 13 year-old frozen semen with Puddin. We can never repay you!

Secondly, our unending gratitude also goes to Le and Helen for without them there would never be Puddin. She is the sweetest, happiest beagle there was and gives us the opportunity to bring in lines to strengthen our programs tenfold.

My personal thanks and love goes to Chelsea who has been such a joy to do beagle partnership with – it has been hard to believe we only met in person a few short months ago – I feel like I have known you all my life. We are so aligned with how we feel about so many things and our goals – this process with you has been nothing short of easy – so thank you friend.

Last but not least, a big shout out to ICSB Nor Cal (Shannon and Sydney Stone) for their professional progesterone timing and TCI services (they are seriously on point!) and going above and beyond for this breeding, Willow Creek Veterinary Clinic for their amazing service and ultrasound machine.

Spencer x Puddin, due July 24th, 2021 with a confirmed 8 puppies aboard, we are thrilled to bits!!! ???

Gordon gets his first points in Starkville MS

COVID-19 has really cancelled all our showing plans here on the West coast. I have a bunch of youngsters I want to get into the ring in 2021 so I decided I need to get creative about how and where to show.

I have a friend who breeds beagles in Louisiana called Jennifer Bell – her kennel is Fleur de Lis Beagles. She is also a professional handler. Knowing she has a few girls to show right now, I asked her if she would be interested in showing one or two of my boys this year. She said yes and told me about a couple of shows she thought might work. A mutual Serena, friend was flying across to one of the first shows in Starkville Mississippi – it seemed like everything fell into place for Gordon to get his first ring experience.

A huge learning curve for this young boy who had his first solo flight across the country and stayed with new people. His first experience in the ring and with a judge and all the things that go along with that. Not a bad thing at all.

On Saturday, under judge Mr. Dana Cline, Gordon went Winners Dog and then Best of Opposite beating 2 champions to get a 3 point major from the 6-9 month old class.

Then on Sunday, under judge Mr. Jerry M Watson, Gordon went Winners Dog and Best of Winners for a 5 point major from the 6-9 month old class!

I couldn’t be more proud of this sweet young boy who in his first weekend out has 8 of his 15 points. I had hoped to show him from the “Bred By” class, but have let that go knowing that I need to keep what is most important in mind, and that is chasing dog shows, wherever I may find them.

I am beyond grateful to Jennifer for showing him and Serena for taking him to and from. Of course I am thankful also to the two judges also for recognizing my boy both days.

Beagle Puppies are 6 weeks

The babies are 6 weeks old.  I can hardly believe it.  🙂  It snowed here in Seattle – yes – you read that right – snowed in November!!  so, the puppies first days in the grass were with little bits of snow.

They loved playing out in the grass and leaves and exploring the yard with the big dogs – and boy did they take a big nap afterwards!   I can see this is going to be a new daily activity for everyone 🙂

Enjoy xo

Beagle babies ~ 5 weeks

Time is now racing by.  The babies have starting sleeping through the night by themselves without Maddy and Maddy is feeding them less and less.  I guess those needle sharp teeth are starting to really hurt (I should know – owch!).

Their development is coming along leaps and bounds and we are loving their personalities emerging.

enjoy the final studio photos of them

First Stacking Attempt

Today I did my first attempt at stacking the beagle babies (4.5 weeks old).

This (for those not in the show world) gives us the ability to be able to see the structure of each puppy – how their forechest and angles look, their topline and head shape.  We will do this over the coming weeks and try and figure out which puppy/s will stay and grow up here at Kazuri, and which will go to their new forever companion home.

Stacking is new and confusing for them and I do it gently and keep it fun as i want the babies to think its a game to stand still.  I am learning myself, so these are not perfect by any means.

Beagle puppies turn 4 weeks old.

I travelled to NZ last week so the babies spent the week with a friend of mine.  While I was away, they grew so much.  They found their voice! They have little growls and howls.

They started solids this week and they love it so much. And they are walking with confidence, and playing together.

Enjoy this week’s photos <3

Life at home with the beagle pups

Now that the beagle babies are getting bigger, they have moved to a day pen so they can hang out.  we have started potty training using “yesterdays news” cat litter and dinnertime is eagerly awaited.  They are growing up!!

Beagle puppies are 2 weeks old

The beagle puppies have turned 2 weeks old and they are growing so fast.  They all have their eyes open and are starting to try and walk around – some are having more success than others are some are lighter than others. 🙂  haha.

we are loving them so much and they get regular snuggles and kisses.  This week we will start puppy mush sometime and start to give Maddy some relief from being the solo feeder of them.  She is doing an amazing job, but they are hungry little babies.
