Cavalier of Puget Sound Specialty Shows

Because of COVID, we have all been starved of going to going to shows. The State-wide restrictions have made it almost impossible all year to get together.

The Cavalier of Puget Sound (COPS) show, which are usually held mid year, were postponed till this weekend in the hopes that the numbers would be smaller. They were able to join with the shows at Richfield WA and have back to back specialty shows the day before the All breed shows that were happening on the weekend.

So, Phoenix and Summer and I, met Susan and Alisha from Lockestar cavaliers, who brought along Sirius, James and Christopher, and we had a day full of fun with our fellow cavalier fanciers. There were rules of course – stay 6ft apart and wear a mask at all times, but we all complied – anything to be able to do what we love 🙂

Our brilliant judges were Mrs Patricia Hastings and Mr Gary Stiles.

The second COPS show was dedicated to the late Nancy Rice Waggoner who passed away earlier this year. She was incredibly dedicated to the sport of cavaliers – what I mean by that is what she didn’t just see them as “pretty” lap dogs, but saw them as capable working dogs also, and many of her dogs worked on other titles as well – they got therapy titles so she could give back to others and agility titles so they could show they could move and keep their brains active. She tried to breed to the standard winning many accolades over the years – Best of Breeds, Group Placements, Best in Shows – her hard work showed in her placements. And she was a really lovely person. I always remember her smile greeting everyone at every show I went to. I was glad this show was dedicated to her memory.

Here are some of the many wonderful memories from the show – obviously not everything is here – thank you to Becky Smith’s husband Steve for taking photos ringside.

Charlotte – (LoKazuri Fourth In Line)

Charlotte doesn’t bear the “Kazuri” affix because she was the result of a combined breeding between myself and Alisha and Susan Lockleer from Lockestar cavaliers. We felt it was only fitting to combine our affixes to show it was a joint effort.

Miss Charlotte doesn’t live with me, she lives with a guardian home (a home where she is, for the most part, a beloved pet – but when the time comes, if she passes her health tests they will allow me to have a litter or two from her). So, when she was visiting this week, I took the opportunity to get some updated photos of her.

She is just shy of her 2nd birthday. <3

Phoenix – Kazuri’s On the Wings of Love TKN

Miss Phoenix is now 14 months and I haven’t put any recent pictures of her on my website so I figured it was about time. She has a funny quirk that when I am trying to take her picture, she blinks – a lot. So, these aren’t the best pictures of her, but they are better than nothing 🙂 <3

I love this sweet, intelligent little girl.

Our final week with Kiss and Denny’s pups together

I can hardly believe that this week is here. After all the weeks raising and loving on these precious little ones, it is time for some to start leaving the nest and going to their forever homes since they are almost 10 weeks. This week’s photos are bittersweet for that reason so I will post lots of them – I took them playing in the yard – real puppy life – the fun of life outside the pen 🙂

What an honor it has been to be their first momma and get to love on them these 10 weeks. And now I get to pass the torch on to wonderful families who will love them just as much. I know they will be spoiled rotton. Thankfully for my heart, only two leave this weekend. And, one, Eliza – now called Summer, is staying here at Kazuri, so that does make things a little less painful.

So without further ado, please enjoy photos one last time of Earl Grey (formerly known as Hamilton), Ginger (formerly known as Angelica), Watson (formerly known as Aaron) and Lily (formerly known as Peggy). <3

Phoenix gets her Trick Title

My daughter Bri has a special bond with our dogs. When she wants to work with them (she is 13 after all) 🙂 , they hang on every command she gives them.

She and Phoenix, our little Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, worked on Phoenix’s Novice Trick title and easily got it. Now I think she should go for her Intermediate Title – don’t you?

Kiss and Denny’s cavalier puppies are 8 weeks

The cavalier puppies are 8 weeks today. I took them to the studio for some more official pictures since they don’t seem to want to sit still very long in the garden – not that I blame them – it’s very interesting exploring out there in the world 🙂

Today they visited the cardiologist Dr Woodfield and got the “all clear” on their hearts. I hope to also be able to get their eyes checked before they go home, but their hearts were the most important thing to me. I am so thrilled the results were as I hoped.

This month marks my final few weeks with these sweet babies. I really have to narrow down my final choices and decide who is staying so families can begin to plan for their precious little one to arrive. I am so thankful for their patience.

The puppies are spending more time outdoors on the deck now. They love having time with the pack and playing with all the big dogs. They also got new fast release collars so they can get used to the feeling of something around their necks. They really are growing up.

Thank you for your interest in my puppies and breeding program. At this stage all of these puppies will be sold from my current wait list. I have just started assessing them to see who will stay in my breeding program. I thank you for your patience and understanding as I wait to make my final offers out to families. I do understand how hard it is to wait.

Kiss and Denny’s pups are 7 weeks today.

My sweet cavalier puppies are 7 weeks today. They are fun loving little explorers. On the sunny days we take them out into the garden to explore and play. The problem is, they don’t want to sit still anymore for close ups. So, you will just have to enjoy pictures of them enjoying the sun and exploring the garden with the big dogs and playing with mama Kiss (aka Paris).

Kiss and Denny’s pups are 6 weeks today

The puppies are enjoying small times outside more and more. We don’t take them outside very much – not only because it’s still a bit cold, but also because it’s not super safe for them as we live on a lake with eagles – so we stand out there and supervise their playtime very closely.

Phoenix loves playtime with the babies so much – as you can see below, the feeling is mutual. She has just turned one, but she is very gentle with them. She has her mom Arrow’s beautiful temperament.

I did their individual pictures outdoors again this week. Enjoy <3

Kiss and Denny’s cavalier pups are 5 weeks old

Time is flying by so fast – I cant believe I am half way to some of these guys going home. Oh my gosh – I cant even think about it.

They are all super eaters now. When the bowls go down, they chow down. They were introduced to the big pack this week and Phoenix (my 1 year old ruby cavalier) was especially excited. If you want to see a video of her playing with one, i put it on Instagram @kazuri_beaglesandcavaliers She sits by their pen and tries t play through the bars and begs me to lets them out several times a day.

The pups are getting so good at walking around and playing that we decided to take them for their first outing outside into the yard. They were a little shy at first (as you will see in the pictures), but once they had figured out that they were safe, they started exploring a little and chewing on leaves and such. It is still a little cold out, and so we didn’t stay for long. We will take them out for small times again each day. 🙂

Here are the latest pictures of the babies – they are getting bigger. <3

I will be forever thankful to Heidi Mohn from Covington cavaliers for allowing me to use her beautiful boy Denny ( CKCSC-USA CH & AKC CH Covington Designed By Time) for this litter.

The cavalier pups are Enjoying food

After a couple of the babies had a slow start with food (ah hem – i literally had to spoon feed them in order for them to eat), now all the pups are eating with great vigor.

I also wanted to share this adorable photo of Miss Peggy who fits perfectly in my hands. For now anyway.
