Nova was due on Monday the 6th. On Sunday the 5th in the evening we started to see some signs of early labor – a little shivering but nothing really exciting or intense.
I slept beside her which is my normal protocol when they are in labor. All of my moms-to-be have a camera on them so I can watch them from the other room and let them have privacy and space.
Monday morning, it was much of the same – she was uncomfortable but not digging or panting or the normal things we see progressing labor, but she wasn’t in distress and fetal heart beats were good, so I watched and waited.
Monday around 4, I saw her start to push, and by 4:03 I had a healthy tri girl with lots of white in my arms. Nova was a little confused at first but it didn’t take her long to start licking her baby and wanting to take care of it.
She didn’t take long before she started to push again, and by 4:30 I had a red and white boy safely here.
She was on a roll, and we had our 3rd baby at 4:52pm – another tri girl
Nova then settled down and slept for a while. She started to nurse them and clean them.
Around 6 she started to push again, and at 6:15pm we had another tri girl
At 6:35pm, we got another red and white boy
And at 7:24pm we got a tri boy – Nova was an absolute rockstar!
I thought she was done – she settled in and slept so I cleaned everything up. By 9:30pm I decided to get her some food in the hopes that she would be hungry. I had been texting my friends each puppy picture and my friend Malia texted me “I am manifesting a Red and White girl and a bonus baby”.
Nova did eat, and about 20 mins after, i noticed that she was bearing down again. It looked to me that there was a bonus baby coming after all.
Nova had a giant 11oz red and white girl. Wowzers – she was a little hard to get out, but when we got a newborn cry, I was crying alongside it in thankfulness for the blessing I had been given
Nova did so well. She loves her babies and is so gentle with them. She cleans them and encourages them to nurse. A good mother is worth her weight in gold and I am beyond thankful for the mothers that went before Nova to pass on the instincts she has today.
DeeJay’s 3 little ladies are thriving. They are very mobile and it is not unusual for us to find them tucked in a corner content and sleeping away. What a blessing to have them be so healthy after the loss of their brother.
We have decided to call them strong female names like the power trio they are
Manny, Holly and Mistletoe are growing so fast. They are learning new skills like teetering on uneven surfaces, navigating stairs, following when we call, and eating on their own (yes this is a skill they have to learn).
The weather is mild this week so they have been able to play outside without their little jackets on – they are SO happy! They run around and chew on each other’s ears and tails – more than anything, it is delightful to see their happy little bounces as they enjoy the fresh air.
All three are social and happy. Their little personalities are starting to emerge. I cant wait to see the results of their Volhard tests and see how right I am about their baseline.
We have one ruby cavalier girl available to the right home. She is more reserved in nature – friendly, but likes to watch rather than initiate. I think she would do amazing in a home where she is the 2nd dog, to follow, or with a more quiet home that wants a snuggle bug.
Look at these cute little nuggets! I mean is there anything on earth cuter than a beagle puppy? I think not.
They are curious and confident and love exploring our yard. This week I found a super cute little mossy patch and took their photos there – I had about 1 second before they dashed off, so apologies that some are a little blurry 🙂
The boys are 6 weeks which means they get to go on the blue chair 🙂 Oh how I love these photos so much
These little guys are like Caspian – still little. I have to wonder if any will end up as 13 inch beagles or if they will be moderate sized 15s. It doesnt really matter but it’s fun to dream and think of how big they will be.
I have family visiting from NZ so they are having lots of socializing time with toddlers and exploring our property. I am amazed at how flexible and confident these little guys are. I think it helps that they have Caspian to help and guide them at every step of the way.
Brinn’s little boys are growing up so fast and have tried their first bites of solid mushy food. They are not convinced that its really for consuming but each day they eat a little more.
We took them outside for their first experience outdoors since the weather has been so nice and we knew they wouldn’t get chilled. They had their nose to the ground – true beagle style.
enjoy the latest photos of these sweet little men. <3
Brinn is taking wonderful care of her little boys and they are growing well each day. In a conversation with Brinn’s human mom and dad, we thought it would be funny to play on the fact that they were born on “Friday the 13th” – so without further ado, here are the tiny terrors
I decided since we were taking photos of Ivy’s puppies on the blue chair, and because we didn’t do Cleo’s pups since they were at Malia’s in Spokane, that I would do blue chair photos with the two boys I have here. They are just waiting for their families to be ready to take them home.
What a beautiful start to the Summer we are having indeed. Ivy’s babies are enjoying being outside with the pack and exploring more of the yard. We don’t leave them out there unsupervised of course, but it’s wonderful to have the space for them to run and play safely.
